On October 10, the Manhattan Federal Court (New York, USA) held the first public hearing related to Diddy’s case.
The male rapper was indicted on serious charges related to sex trafficking, prostitution and conspiracy to extort money…. This is the first hearing in the case that shocked the global public.
According to information from Page Six, Diddy appeared in court with a calm appearance, wearing gray prison clothes but still smiling, waving to his son and family members. This action angered many people, who thought that Diddy had no remorse or shame in the face of accusations of sexual crimes.
Not only Diddy, the male rapper’s mother – Janice Combs – also attended the hearing, along with 6 of his 7 children, including Quincy Brown, Justin Combs, Christian “King” Combs, Chance Combs and twins Jessie – D’Lila Combs. The crowd outside the courthouse booed as Janice got out of her car, having previously criticised the allegations against her son.
The details of the hearing have not yet been released. Meanwhile, Diddy’s lawyers have filed a lawsuit, accusing the government of leaking the video of Diddy beating his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura. However, no specific evidence has been provided to support this claim. The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York has asserted that “the government did not possess the video before CNN released it.”
Diddy’s lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, said his client’s biggest challenge in prison was eating. Diddy’s first meal was a Swedish meatball or black bean burger, along with egg noodles, green beans, and a vegetable salad with dressing. Diddy’s breakfast began at 6 a.m. with cereal, fruit, toast, and pastries. Lunch and dinner were served at 11 a.m. and after 4 p.m. Diddy’s next court appearance is scheduled for December 18, 2024, with a formal hearing scheduled for May 5, 2025. Despite three bail applications, Diddy has been denied.
Diddy’s case began in September, when he was indicted on a series of charges of extortion, assault, sex trafficking and prostitution. Diddy was held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn and pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on September 17.
Notably, on October 1, Diddy faced sexual assault charges from 120 new victims, including 25 minors, the youngest of whom was only 9 years old. Attorney Tony Buzbee said Diddy and his co-defendants took advantage of auditions organized by the company to commit depraved acts with minors.
Despite being incarcerated, Diddy still maintains a large influence in the entertainment industry. Many stars such as Justin Bieber, Usher, Beyoncé and Jay-Z have remained silent on the case, raising many questions about Diddy’s power and influence.
